Advanced neuroimaging is referred to as the techniques for the proper diagnosis and treatment of various problems associated with the central nervous system of the human beings. These techniques help the doctors to perform a detailed study of the brain and the central nervous system with the help of the images obtained with advanced neuroimaging techniques. Thus, it can be very well understood that how vital is the role played by these techniques in the appropriate diagnosis as well as it's effective management.

Techniques We Use
Our radiology department is a state of the art department with all the necessary infrastructure that is essential for effectively dealing with the neuro and neurosurgery emergencies at its best. The advanced neuroimaging techniques used by our doctors are as discussed below.

Multi-Slice CT
Multi-slice CT scan is computerised tomographic scan which is basically an advanced radiological imaging that takes the help of an x-ray beam which rotates around the patient for the purpose of capturing images inside the body. These images of the brain and the central nervous system are extremely useful for getting a detailed understanding of the conditions which in turn help the doctors in proceeding with the procedures of treatment accordingly. The following specialisations are included in the computerised tomographic techniques.

  • Imaging of acute stroke which includes the CT scan of the brain and CT perfusion which readily help in the detection of the abnormalities before they are actually visible on a CT scan that is conventional non-contrast.
  • CT angiography is a special type of CT scan which is performed by the use of the rapid infusion of intravenous contrast for the purpose of highlighting the blood vessels in the region of the brain or the spine to be examined.

MRI
MRI is magnetic resonance imaging which is one of the advanced techniques used in radiology for getting clear as well as the detailed image of the brain and the central nervous system. Carotid and vertebral doppler
Carotid and vertebral doppler is another of the advanced neuroimaging techniques used by our hospital which is basically an imaging test that takes the help of ultrasound for the examination of the carotid arteries. These tests are capable of showing any kinds of blockages or narrowing of the arteries which helps the doctors to effectively treat the conditions.

Trans Cranial Doppler
Trans cranial doppler is the technique used by us which makes use of the ultrasound waves helping in the measurement of the velocity of the blood which is flowing through the blood vessels of the brain. This is done by measuring the echoes of the ultrasound waves which move transcranially. With the help of this technique, any abnormality in the blood flow can be detected and treated accordingly.

Digital Subtraction Angiography
Digital subtraction angiography is a specialised neuroimaging technique used in our hospital. This technique makes use of a fluoroscopy technique in the interventional radiology for the purpose of a clear visualisation of the blood vessels through the bones and soft tissues in the region. The technique is again very helpful for the detection of any kinds of abnormalities helping the doctors to proceed with the treatment.
